About Paul Tan, CPA, CMA

Paul has been with TANgible Accounting since its early stages of operation. As a family business, Paul has gained exposure and experience with the accounting industry early in his career.

In 2002 TANgible Accounting started as a business that worked with medium-sized business owners. In 2012, Paul saw a need and opportunity to take on small businesses. Through this recognition, TANgible Accounting established a wider reach in terms of its client base. There were two main reasons which led to this expansion. The first reason was to ensure that clients were off to the right start when starting a business. The other reason was to provide an opportunity to correct any potential errors in their accounting system and processes which in turn helps to generate a good set of books throughout the year that any business owner can feel comfortable to present to an auditor or CRA for taxes.

Paul enjoys working with clients from start to finish. Your work with him begins when you’re ready to take your business to the next level. Once your baseline has been determined, he can work with you to help implement strategies that will help you to reach your desired outcome. As a financial partner who will strive to get you there, Paul will review your tax reporting, offer advice for effective business strategies, and help you to assess your risk in a timely manner. Although business owners are excellent at creating and marketing products, they may need some extra guidance along the way with their accounting. Paul is passionate about having the opportunity to structure your business in a place of success.  If you feel the accounting piece is missing or could be improved in your business operations, Paul can help you to bridge those gaps.

About Samia Tan, CPA, CMA

Samia has been on board with the TANgible Accounting team since 2008. She started with the company on a part-time basis while working for the corporate world. In 2013, she started a full-time position with TANgible Accounting. As the Managing Director, Samia is responsible for managing the staff and a variety of aspects within the company. In addition, Samia works on taxes, corporate tax, and tax planning.

Samia is motivated by the desire to create an impact in various capacities that her role offers. She plays a large role in helping her clients have a better understanding of the accounting process. When working with tax clients, she helps them to understand the new and existing tax laws. Having the knowledge to guide clients is very rewarding for her. At the end of the day, its not about how much revenue is made but it’s also about how much profit is made. Samia will help you determine whether your unique situation requires fine tuning or looking at a holistic view of your financials.  It is rewarding for her to work with business owners. She enjoys interacting with her clients directly. Doing so allows her to see the measurable impact that can be achieved.  She will take the extra steps necessary to help you understand the numbers on your reports so that you can make good business decisions. By looking at your current business operations, Samia will work with you to develop strategies to map out your workflow to protect you from redundancies and fraud.

Samia’s work extends to the community through her role as an educator. She has been heavily involved with the York Region and the Richmond Hill Chamber of Commerce, Staples Canada, local banks, and Seneca College. Samia is passionate about educating and informing business owners on how to use accounting and financial reports in a way to make their businesses more profitable. She also educates the community on areas related to tax planning and tax reporting. The end goal is to ensure that her clients are successful by staying in the black.
